UC Irvine & GATI Programs

UC Irvine provides the academic credit component through the Division of Continuing Education for eligible courses.
GATI manages program administration, enrollment, and operations.

Students currently in grades 8 - 12 may apply to the UCI x GATI Programs. GATI selects students based on a holistic review using multiple indicators beyond grades and test scores. Selected programs include online courses offered through UC Irvine’s Division of Continuing Education; students may earn academic credit through UC Irvine’s Division of Continuing Education when enrolled in those courses.

Admitted students receive invitations to enjoy the unique opportunity to gain exposure to university-affiliated research environments and guided demonstrations of advanced lab techniques (residential programs). Students selected to the programs will have a rare chance to engage with faculty speakers and experienced professionals in their fields. For capstone projects, students will collaborate with fellow scholars from all over the globe to present their work or innovation progress.

BEAM

Bio Engineering AI Medicine

Experience advanced research-focused learning experiences in the interdisciplinary, cutting-edge fields of BEAM.

 Admitted fellows will be matched with research-focused project environments guided by faculty and instructional staff and learn about the authentic research process.

Academic Credits

Research Programs (2-4 Credits*)

GATI’s Research Programs offer gifted and talented high school scholars the rare opportunity to engage in research-focused learning in a university environment. In addition to receiving college credits, students who successfully complete either the regular or comprehensive research tracks have the opportunity to:

  • Learn from faculty speakers and experienced professionals;

  • Exposure to university-affiliated research environments

  • Publish research in academic high school journals;

  • Jumpstart their research career before starting college;

  • Connect with worldwide gifted and talented scholars; and

  • Share research interests and passion with the world.

 

Selected programs include an XI 196 course offered through UC Irvine’s Division of Continuing Education; students may earn U.S. academic credits through UC, when enrolled in this course.

Residential Programs

GATI’s on-campus programs offer talented and hardworking students the opportunity to engage in advanced academic work while living in paradise — beautiful oceanside Orange County, California. While the focus is on rigorous academics and learning, the social-emotional connection and lasting friendships that result from living, mingling, and adventuring together with other gifted and talented students from around the world is an integral part of the GATI summer experience.

Virtual Programs

GATI’s online programs offer talented and hardworking students the opportunity to remotely engage in advanced academic work and experience research and/or innovation processes all year round from the comforts of their computer. All virtual programs are designed to foster intimacy and curated to embolden the intellectual vitality of young scholars.
